Swans, Geese and Bears in NC
Jan 28 thru Jan 31
Pocosin Lakes and Mattamuskeet National Wildlife refuges are at the heart of the Atlantic Migratory Flyway. Pocosin Lakes NWR alone hosts more than 100,000 overwintering waterfowl, incluing 80,000 Snow Geese, and 20,000 Tundra Swans in addition to many other waterfowl species. The congregation of these massive amounts of birds presents one of the most spectacular displays in nature. One of our goals of this workshop will be to capture these magnificent creatures as they congregate and swarm in during their feeding and roosting rituals.
However, birds will not be our only subjects, this area is host to one of the largest concentrations of Black Bears in the eastern US, so with some luck we should be able to create some great images of these magnificent creatures.
What sets our photo workshops apart
We beleive that in order to truly enjoy your time and get the most out of a photography tour and/or workshop you need to have small groups.
At Wild Nature Tours we keep our groups as small as possible, usually no more than 6 to 10 total participants. On all of our wildlife photo workshops we require that each participant have their own door and window out of the vehicles. This provides participants with the best opportunities to capture those images when speed is of the essence or when it is necessary to shoot out of the window. Additionally we want to make sure you have plenty of room for your gear and warm clothing.
Compare that most other tours were you have one instructor and up to 14 participants in a single van, with no operable windows! With us you are assured to have the best vantage point at all times, and never be held back by sitting in an over crowded van.
